Financial Reform - Something on which We Can Agree.

It seems that we here in the US have become increasingly partisan. Right/left, liberal/conservative, republican/democrat.

But a new poll in the Washington Post shows that:

About two-thirds of Americans support stricter regulations on the way banks and other financial institutions conduct their business, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
It also shows that a slim majority - 52 percent - of all Americans says they trust Obama over the GOP on the issue, while 35 percent favor the Republicans in Congress. Independents prefer Obama 47 to 35 percent, with 16 percent trusting neither side on the issue.

But according to the Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/26/richard-shelby-i-dont-bel_n_551554.html) GOP Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has said that he has 41 votes to block debate.

Let's hope that we can all agree soon on means to stop Wall Street from bringing us to the verge of financial disaster again.

Update:

Republicans Vote As Bloc To Filibuster Wall Street Bill... Single Democrat Joins GOP, Likely Voted No Because Warren Buffett Didn't Get Special Deal... Obama Releases Surprisingly Harsh Statement... Dems Plan To Force Another Vote This Week
