Pope Glenn Beck To Restore Christianity To The Huddled Masses

From the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, broadcaster Glenn Beck has told a crowd of tens of thousands of people gathering on the National Mall that their country has "wandered in darkness" for too long. And he began his rally on a religious theme, saying that "America today begins to turn back to God."

Wow, so God has anointed his Holiness, Glennedicktus Becktus, as his messenger on Earth to restore God to America.

Where do you even start with that? I say let's look at the premises that America had lost or turned its back to "God."  So I guess first, he is calling most of us heathens. It is really good to know that Mr. Beck is in such a position of authority and is so omnipotent as to cast that judgement out upon we the ungodly mass.

Now I don't care if he calls me ungodly (I don't believe in God), but last I checked most Americans do. So I assume that they are not being "good enough" Christians for you Mr. Beck?

But are Americans really so anti-God? Of all of its Western neighbors, Americans are amongst the very highest in terms of attending church.

But you, Pope Glennedicktus, and your assorted Cardinals, Sarah Palin, Sharron Angle, Michele Bachmman, Jim Miller, would know better would you not? We need to be more "God-like" in your eyes. What exactly does the Church of Beck stand for?

Well, not providing medicine to the poor, because that is Socialism. We really need to get rid of the devil-drug "Obama-care" because the poor should just get jobs to pay for medical care.

And we need to end this over dependence on food stamps and social programs, because that is Nazism. Cardinal Angle often speaks of our over-coddling the hungry and not allowing them to starve for themselves. It is our fault that they don't get jobs to buy food. Shame on us.

And we need to stop providing McMansions to the homeless, least we become Communist. There are plenty of leftover card-board boxes around from which they can take shelter.

So now that Pope Glennedicktus is restoring Christianity to his humble people, he and his Cardinals also wish to "reclaim the civil rights movement". Yes, on the 47th anniversary of civil rights leader Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech and at the same spot on the National Mall, on the steps of the memorial, these enlightened few ask that you don white and "reclaim" civil rights. Confused?

Al Sharpton said that "In '63, they went to Washington for a strong national government to protect civil rights." "He and Palin are going there for a weak national government and to advocate state rights."

It seems to me that "reclaim" is simply the same slogan as "take back", i.e. take back America from the blacks, Mexicans, homosexuals and Jews. It is the Crusades of the 21st century. Beck, Palin, Angle, Bachmann and Miller are leading "God's" army to reclaim America.

These self-anointed demagogues are frightening!

This delusional omnipotence - this grandiose view of ones own self-worth and importance - this psychopathological idea that only you have the answers - this megalomaniacal belief that anyone who disagrees with you is your enemy - IS DANGEROUS.

  1. You nailed it. Glenn Beck is all about his power. He replaced is booze and drug addictions for his God and power addictions. He is embarrassing. He is a hate monger. He is WRONG!!

  2. I agree with this article. Glenn Beck and the like are manipulating ignorant white Americans, the god fearing racists that are afraid that a black man is President. Some are so stupid they can not see Obama is the best president we have had in decades. Maybe the best president ever. Obama inherited such a pile of shit from 8 years of BUSH that there would actually need to REALLY be a god for him to snap his fingers like magic and fix all of the mistakes from others. Considering the nightmare he has had to take over, he is doing a fantastic job. I'm tired of people complaining about what Obama has not done. Lets' focus on how much good he HAS done.

  3. Your's is by far the best political commentary I have yet read on Glenn Beck's rally (ego-stroking conflagration). What a sick and demented person he is. It was also interesting reading your commentary on bring "God" back since you are not a Christian. I also fiind it offensive that he beliefs that he is restoring God where there is little evidence that Americans are unGodly.

  4. I saw your article on Jon Stewart. Brilliant. Especially the comparison of the "taking back civil rights" to the Tea Party "taking back America." It seems so transparent, but why are so many people falling for the demagogary?

  6. Glenn Beck is mentally ill. How anyone can look to him for wisdom is horrifying.

I wish McCain had won the election so America could be blaming him
for the mess right now. The mess the GOP created with 8 years of BUSH. A mess that could take a fucking life time to clean up.

On election night when Obama won, I finally thought we had grown as a nation. I finally was proud of America again. I had hope.

Clearly, there were many Americans that lost sleep that night. The American's that want their white America back. This is disgusting moment in mankind.

I want the America I saw on the faces of the people in the crowd the night Obama won the election.

I am sickened to know i have to live in a land where such people exist.

I love that the writer has the good sense to see through the extreme right and their hypocrisies, however is he really blind to the prejudices by those of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, last I checked they wasn't it Farrakhan who said the New York was Hymie town (hence Jewish) and maybe they marched with MLK but where were they when their fellow Americans were in the Astro Dome 5 years ago.

Are you saying this blog has the same credo as Fox News?
Fair and Unbiased..." Let's try again, shall we?

  10. Thank you for your comment. However with respect to Al Sharpton I was simply providing a competing view-point to that espoused by Glenn Beck and was not using his statement to support any paticular position. I also fail to see how my use of a comment by Mr. Sharpton is then extrapolated into a comment by Farrakhan, of whom I did not speak.

I also do not claim to be 100% fair and impartial, nor am I a network news media.

I do thank you for your comment and hope you enjoyed the post.

  12. May Mr. Beck answer to God @ his final reconning. If he's the "second coming of our Lord", then pigs fly & I'm Howdy Dooty. Who does Glenn Beck think he is?

  13. Where are the minorities? Where are the african americans? EVERY picture (save the picture of Dr. King's niece) has ONLY caucasian americans represented! Given that the tea party is financed by hedge fund managers, I don't think that this type of "activism" is genuine. I'd bet against it!

Poor, slighted overindulgent caucasians, taxed too much nowadays. Investments taking a hit? Can't afford another 2000 mile trip in their RV's! Or another harley ride to oklahoma! Or, can only afford a 2-week vacation rather than a 2-month vacation. Give me a break!

  14. Glenn Beck strikes me as a narcissistic personality who operates on the principle of whatever will serve his own self-aggrandizement. His contention that churches should not engage in social action ministries proves only that he has no understanding of the Christian faith, particularly that portion of the Gospel of St. Matthew (Chapters 5-6-7) commonly referred to as the "Sermon on the Mount". His rally will be tolerated because we believe in freedom of speech...even for the likes of Beck.

However, isn't it stange that both fought for the rights and freedons of African Americans AND, most WHITES were against both FIGHTS! So what is BECKy's point????

  16. What?? Excuse me for thinking there was a separation of church and state! Way to foster hatred of other religions Beck – you sicken me. You are NO King.

This rally is an insult on history.

  17. Wonder if the expenses paid by the Koch brothers brought the reward they want? TWO would-be corporate dictators buying votes and paying expenses for people to attend these rallies. Sorry folks, I work for a living - I'm not about to go out stirring up more hate and fear and spreading misinformation like that bunch of clowns.

  19. he Tribe of European Americans gather again to pat each other on their back for their phony conservative values. Who will be the guest speaker? The tax raising (e.g. ACES tax) socialist program benefiting (e.g. Alaska Permanent Fund) ex-governor of Alaska, Palin? Or the multi-divorced anti-gay marriage former speaker Gingrich? Or the government-grower-into-the-private-lives-of-people-through-the-legislation-of-religion-which-goes-against-the-constitutional-separation-of-church-and-state-but-let's-not-help-the-needy hypocrite Bachmann?

  20. Hmm, another gathering of Glenn Beck's teabagger group. Notice the lack of diversity in the field of Caucasians (again). Coincidence? These followers were unbelievably instructed to stay away from the green & yellow transit lines where American diversity actually exists. How sad.

Fortunately, Beck does not represent The Dream many Americans want for our beautifully diverse country. God bless America.

  21. t's official. The "dumbing down" of America is complete. Apparently, none of these sheeple have read the interview that Beck gave to Forbes magazine recently where he admits that he couldn't care less about politics, and is in this business to entertain and make money. In fact, he himself calls his behavior, his "brand."

This is his "shtick" people!!! He's nothing but a shock-jock and doesn't really believe what he's saying!

    BAAAAAA!!!!!!

  22. Only people who hate their country would go to see two of the biggest frauds where MLK had his most famous speech. There are two Americans in particular that have eroded honor in the highest degree and their names are Beck and Palin. These two only honor their love of money that they suck out of the un educated with fear and lies.

  23. Lincoln would roll over in his grave to see what his Party has become, and to see the sheer audacity of such racist (he assures us that the President hates white people), divisive, secessionist, lying sack of stool samples as Glenn Beck that invokes Lincoln's name on his memorial.

And to do this on the anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech is the epitome of cramming his new white supremacist garbage down all our throats. Glenn Beck is a disgrace to humanity.

Sane people, across the entire political spectrum, should boycott Fox News and their sponsors until this jerk is removed from the airwaves. It's pretty easy, actually; just program your remote to skip the Fox News Channel. Takes only a few seconds, and brings such peace of mind.

  24. A large collection of racists gathering together in our nation's capital to promote intolerance and ignorance on the anniversary of one of the greatest speeches in American history by one of history's greatest Americans.

If you can't spit in Dr. King's eye, you may as well spit on his legacy, right Tea baggers? JBL NYC

  25. I remember about a year or so ago, there was a news story, I forget about what exactly, but it had something to do with race. All the right wingers were on here commenting about how Obama was a racist, and that whites were being victimized, and that health care reform was actually secret reperations, and so on.

Somebody jokingly responded by saying he could see Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin one day leading a rally of rednecks at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial about their struggle for their civil rights, and all the white crackers solemny singing "We Shall Overcome!" At the time, I thought it was hilarious because it was so patently absurd.

  26. Glen Beck and his followers are complete idiots. He makes simple minded people think he is a savior of some sort and is going to save the middle class. Hey idiots–he is a milti-millionaire making more millions off your ignorance and simple mindiness. When will you people ever get it? Wake up fools.

  27. I used to be a Republican, but was sickened long ago by all the hatred and bigotry in the party. The smart people have all jumped ship long ago. It's hard for Beck to reclaim the civil rights movement when his little group is dominated by homophobes and racists. They exploit racism and fear on every election cycle.

  30. This guy is a complete joke; anyone who takes him seriously needs to start getting better information from actual news sources. The 3 million or so people that seem to watch every program on Fox News are the only individuals oblivious to the fact that there is zero factual reporting going on over there.

I consider Fox News one of the greatest dangers to this country. They have created a culture of hatred and fear that is affecting a lot of people -- particularly minorities. The so called Christians like Hannity are probably responsible for more hate crimes in this country than anyone else. Judgment day will come for them and they will be quite surprised when they have to go down.

  31. Glenn Beck said what we need is a good old fashioned terrorist attack to get us off our lazy butts....is that funny? Glenn Beck said the President has a deep seeded hatred for white people. Did the President hate his mother and Grandmother? Glenn Beck warns of FEMA concentration camps.Where? Glenn Beck offered to take nude photo's of a female guest. What a guy. He asked a US congressman if he was a terrorist because he happened to be Muslim. How Christian of him. He has stated that Barack Obama could in fact be the Anti Christ! How Anti Christian of him! This is Glenn Beck! Not Charles Manson...Glenn Beck.

  32. I'd like to bet the average IQ of his viewership sits in middle 2-digits. As in not-toooo-bright. Intelligent, well-informed people who take responsibility for doing their own research instead of accepting Beck (or anyone on FoxNews) as an unbiased credible source, know what the facts are and what is truth vs fiction. I say this not as someone from one side of the aisle or another, because really, it doesn't matter. There are legitimate points of disagreement between the parties...that's normal and the way it's supposed to be. That's not what Mr. Beck reports on daily. He, in the words of his friend Sarah Palin, "makes stuff up", inflames it as much as he can, stirs hate, fake cries, and generally acts like an ass.....all in the name of ratings. Don't be fooled into thinking Beck gives a real rat's ass about what he reports. Just go back and see his reports pre-FoxNews and you'll see how many of his views have magically changed with the network switch, and how this became that, and black became white, all with the move to FoxNews. I suppose Rupert demands a high level of hate. Good for him. He'll get to answer for his lack of journalistic integrity or regard for respect and truth eventually. I look forward to the day. Were he to lead a network who reported issues from the right's perspective, and do it ethically and responsibly, that would be different. But he doesn't. Beck, Hannity, Morris, O'Reilly and the lot of them are mega-hypocrites and it's laughable to hear what they say and how they conduct themselves when their party's out of power, versus what they said when their party was in power and leading this country into an abyss not seen in almost a decade. Hypocrisy at it's finest. An entire network built around being sore losers, stomping their feet and pounding their fists (metaphorically speaking) like schoolyard bullies. Pitiful....and classless.

  33. Always interesting to see how the bigger the loud mouth the conservatives put up there the more 'popular' their buffoonery becomes. Just like Palin and Rush, etc., when you out right lie and fear monger there's a huge audience ready to watch such foolishness. When you have no leaders to speak of...send in the clowns and watch those ratings soar!!

Sounds about the size of trailer trash America.

  35. Beck is a pathetic man, and his real objectve is not with truth telling but with self promotion. He is an uneducated, ex-disc jockey who went from playing fart sounds and ringing cow bells on a morning music show to a political "commentator" I know that the commie/facist/socialist fearing tin foil hat clubers, that like him, will never change because he spews the hate that they want to hear. He plays them for the useful idiots that they are buying his books and going to his comedy shows. He makes a fortune off of these people, and knows how to keep that goose "laying the golden eggs" alive and well.

Why does he have Tort law firms advertise on his show when he despises them? Why does he have firms that prepares living wills advertise with him when he associates living wills with death panels? The answer is money!!

Lastly, what do you call a show host with great ratings and no advertisers? A Loser!
