The Seattle Times' Jim Brunner profiled Didier this week and reported that he has accepted federal farming subsidies totalling $273,000 while simultaneously denouncing the government:
A former NFL player turned farmer, Didier has repeatedly called the federal government "a predator." He vows to oppose the "Marxist utopia" he says Democrats want to create -- "where everyone is taken care of from womb to tomb."
But Didier himself has cashed in on one big government aid program. He has received nearly $273,000 in federal farm subsidies since 1995, according to a database of U.S. Department of Agriculture subsidies maintained by the Environmental Working Group (EWG).I am glad Mr. Didier is SO opposed to the federal government Marxist agenda. He can repay the $273,000 in federal farm subsidies, with interest. There are a lot of uses we can make of that money
So let's all wait and see how long it takes this patriot to repay that horrible governmental money.
And joining Clint is the beloved Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin on Thursday endorsed Tea Party-backed Washington state Senate candidate Clint Didier, calling him a "patriot running for U.S. Senate to serve his state & our country for all the right reasons!"
Why has Sarah joined us today you might ask. It is because of her tired use of "patriot" to push forward her agenda. As Samuel Johnson one said, "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel."
Leo Tolstoy [...] defines patriotism as the principle that will justify the training of wholesale murderers. And from his pamphlet "Christianity and Patriotism" - Patriotism ... for rulers is nothing else than a tool for achieving their power-hungry and money-hungry goals, and for the ruled it means renouncing their human dignity, reason, conscience, and slavish submission to those in power. ... Patriotism is slavery.
So that is why Sarah joins us. Her patriotism is nothing more than a power grab for her own agenda. As Emma Goldman said:
The people are urged to be patriotic ... by sacrificing their own children. Patriotism requires allegience to the flag, which means obedience and readiness to kill father, mother, brother, sister.
